Scam 'Important' - Buyers and Sellers Please Read This ... The scam is that they email you an Offer to pay the exact price but they say the client owes them. Then they say they will send a cashiers check and ask for you to send the remainder of the money.
Beware - this is a Fake. Usually
your check is cleared quickly and they are gone with your money.
Beware! This is still happening
all over the internet.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU COMPLETE ANY SALE ON YOUR APPLIANCES, MAKE SURE PAYMENT IS CLEAR AND MONEY IS IN YOUR ACCOUNT. DO NOT SHIP ANYTHING NOR SEND MONEY BACK TO A BUYER UNTIL YOU KNOW YOUR SALE AND SELLER ARE SOLIDLY IN PLACE.
Sellers - If you have received an unusual offer to purchase your appliance, especially from countries outside the USA, practice extreme caution in your sale. Currently there is a popular twist on an old scheme floating around that goes something like this:
Let's say you have a stove for sale at $1,000.00. A request to purchase the stove arrives by e-mail stating that the buyer has found out that your stove is actually worth much more than you are asking.
The buyer then states they wish to purchase the stove at this higher price and will send a large check to cover the cost of the stove and shipping. Once you receive their check, all they will request is for you to send the balance due back to them and they will have the stove picked up.
The unsuspecting seller receives a check, then sends back the balance that would be due to the buyer from their own bank account. Problem is, their check is absolutely worthless and the seller has been taken. Recourse is nearly impossible.
This scheme is based on plain old greed, so beware if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
